Veneers are used to cover over the front surface of teeth to enhance their appearance. They can be used to change the colour, shape and/or size of teeth. Stains, minor chips, misalignment, or other imperfections can be concealed with the thin porcelain shells, which slide over the front surface of teeth. Porcelain veneers are made by a dental lab after the tooth has been prepared by the dentist at the first visit. At the second appointment the porcelain veneer is bonded to the tooth and provide a very natural tooth look. Veneers have some risk of fracturing if exposed to abnormal forces from trauma or biting into something harder than food.
Veneers can be used to cover one tooth, or a full set can be applied for a dramatic smile makeover.
